OUR PROJECTS

Caring & Collaborative

Over the years, we have invested heavily in supporting our alma mater through contributions to various school projects (chemistry lab, basketball court, computer lab etc.) and support for teaching staff including custodian services together with the US Chapter until the Ministry of Education began funding this service.  Monetary contributions are well in excess of C$250K since our inception in 1987. Thanks to all of our generous supporters!

EDUCATION & OUTREACH

2021 LAPTOP FUNDRAISING e-APPEAL
Making a Difference

Dear Alumni members, family and friends,

We would like to express our appreciation for the kind and generous donations received to assist the students of our Alma Mater with the purchase of laptops. The worldwide pandemic has resulted in a change in the way education is being taught in the schools. The students at our Alma Mater have had to adjust to this new reality where education is now taught virtually.

Your generosity and support will assist students in the Pre-Examination classes who require access to a laptop together with the requisite software for virtual educational classes and examinations. We hope your support will help make it possible for the school to support 4th formers with a laptop through either an interest-free finance option or free of cost for those whose parents cannot afford it.

Our appeal was very successful and we are pleased to report that we raised $7,175 from sixty (60) donors.   The association also wants to express our thanks & appreciation to Mary & Nigel Ferreira of New York, for their invaluable assistance in purchasing and shipping the 20 laptops which cost slightly in excess of $10,000 to Guyana.  Please click on the button below to see the list of all of our generous donors.

Thank you again for your support.

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL FITNESS

Doing What’s Needed

Through our emphasis not only on academics but also health & physical fitness, we have made substantial investment in the basket ball court to make a real and positive change to the students of St. Rose's High School. We also funded 2 water troughs in 2020 for the school grounds to support hygienic conditions due to the pandemic.

This is one of our key areas of focus here at ST. ROSE'S ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (TORONTO CHAPTER), and a source of much success for our Organization.

Get in touch with us today and see how you can lend a helping hand.

GUYANA ORPHANAGES - ST. ANN & ST. JOHN BOSCO

Tackling the Issue

Thanks to the kind generosity of our supporters, $1,000 in voluntary contributions was donated as directed in 2021.  Our 2020 directed E-Appeal for Orphanages raised $6,600 with the monies being shared equally between the two orphanages.

Previously, proceeds raised from our annual Games Evening were in aid of St. Ann and St. John Bosco Orphanages.  However, all physical fund raising events have been cancelled due to Covid-19.
